Get In TouchOur Story
Chapter I · The Word
Before there was a firm, there was a word.
Fiscus, in Latin, meant a woven basket — the basket that held the gold of the Roman treasury. Fiscālis: of, or belonging to, the state treasury. From that root come the words we still use today: fiscal, fisc, confiscate. Money that moves under the authority of the state. Money that touches every life but belongs to none of them.
We chose the name because it is honest about what we do.
We work inside the fiscus — the treasury, the tax code, the reporting machinery — on behalf of the people who have to live with its weight.
Chapter II · The Saint
Matthew sat at the customs post at Capernaum, collecting taxes for Rome. He was a publican — one of the most despised men in his town, mentioned in the Gospels alongside sinners. He worked for the occupier, inside the fiscus, against his own people.
Then Jesus walked past and said, “Follow me.” Matthew stood up, walked away from the tax table, and became the first Evangelist.
Today he is the patron saint of accountants, bankers, bookkeepers, tax collectors, financial officers, money managers, and civil servants — the complete list of every profession this firm serves.
He is the patron of the people who work with money, and of the people who need someone in their corner when the system comes calling.
That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
The Mark
The elliptical halo above the figure identifies Matthew as a saint — the chosen one. It signals divine authority and moral standing. In financial terms: we operate above reproach.
The winged man is Matthew’s ancient symbol — one of the four creatures of Revelation, assigned to the first Evangelist. Wings denote swiftness, protection, and elevation above earthly constraints.
Matthew holds not just his Gospel, but a ledger — two columns, like the pages of any book of accounts. The book he carries is both sacred text and financial record. Truth recorded. Numbers that matter.
The heraldic crest surrounding the figure signals protection and authority. Your clients need a shield — someone standing between them and the machinery of the fiscal system. That is this firm.
